Ursulines of Prelate
ST. ANGELA MERICI RESIDENCE
In 1986, the Ursulines of Prelate opened St. Angela Merici Residence as a retirement home for the Sisters. At that time many of the Sisters remained active in volunteer ministry inside and outside the home.
As Sisters aged and health needs increased, the focus of St. Angela Merici Residence necessarily included a larger ‘care’ component. At present the care plan includes Care Aids around the clock and a part time Registered Nurse.
January 1, 2017, St. Angela Merici Residence was incorporated with a Board of Directors that assumed management of the residence. Application for a Personal Care Home license was put into process and was granted in January 2018, which is when residents other than the Sisters were accepted.
On October 1st, 2019, Emmanuel Health Care took over the facility, freeing the Sisters of the responsibilities associated with running such an enterprise. (See news release)
Though the age and health needs of the residents increase, St. Angela Merici Residence continues as home to a vibrant community.
Ten people, Sisters from other communities and Lay people (women and men) also call St. Angela Merici Residence their home
